Recent legislation (Minnesota Session Laws, 2020, 5th Special Session, Chapter 3, Article 10, Section 4)  allows for a temporary rate increase for PCA services for Direct Support Workers from December 1st 2020 to February 7th, 2021. This is in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The legislation received final approval on December 15th, 2020 and we received this notice on12/22/2020.

The PCA agencies are required to:

·         Use 80 percent of the additional revenue to increase wages,  any corresponding increase in the employer's share of FICA taxes, Medicare taxes, state/federal unemployment taxes and workers' compensation premiums

·         Use the remainder of the additional revenue, if any, for activities and items necessary to support compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance on sanitation and personal protective equipment.

All employees for PCA services will receive extra $0.95 per hour during this time. Please be aware that the increased amount is scheduled to be discontinued after February 7th, 2021.

All employees will see this extra payment reflected in paychecks on 12/31/2020. A retro payment will be made to include hours worked from 12/1/2020.

Please note this only applies to PCA services.

Wages for Homemaking or 245D services and overtime rate will remain at the current rate, if applicable.
